It is the feeling that you can be fully yourself beside another person. It is knowing that you can speak honestly without being punished for your vulnerability. It is being able to disagree without becoming enemies. It is having someone beside you who does not need to control your life in order to share it.

But trust, respect, communication, emotional maturity, and everyday choices are what allow them to stay together.
